Invest in Yourself and Enjoy Growing!

One of my favorite song lyrics is by Bob Dylan – “Those that ain’t a-busy learning and growing are a-busy dying!” You spend time and money keeping your car in good shape, your home maintained and your computer working but what about your body, your mind, and your feelings? You do things for your children, but what about yourself, do you invest in yourself and enjoy growing? Why not spend some time, money, and effort on yourself? There’s a lot you can do to invest in yourself. See how much more you can accomplish when you make yourself a priority!

Try these techniques to enrich your life to invest in yourself and enjoy growing:

  1. Sign up for physical improvement activities. Your health and fitness are important. Get experts on your side. Many health clubs offer free personal training. Look for a gym with online programs. The recent focus on virtual meetings has created many opportunities. If you have the financial resources, try Pilates or Yoga or Cardio sessions to speed your progress.

  2. Look into taking cooking lessons. This is also now available as an online meeting and/or there are several new weekly or monthly food delivery services with everything you need to create a dinner masterpiece! The meals can accommodate any food preferences you have. It’s not a cheap service, but it’s less expensive than a private chef!

  3. Take a course to invest in yourself and enjoy growing. What interests you? You could take a class on Buddhism, basket weaving, calculus, or a golf lesson. What would enrich your life? Identify what would do the most for you and go do it. You might ask your spouse or friends for a few ideas. It might give your career a boost.

  4. Hire a personal coach. A personal coach can help you figure out what you want to do with your life and advise you on how to make it happen. A personal coach is a sounding board, a mirror, and an expert on aspects of work and life. Let someone advise you and hold you accountable.

  5. Make time for yourself. Everyone needs a break each day to enjoy life. Use this time however you please without any feelings of guilt. Order an educational coloring book on geography or anatomy. Hangout with a neighbor. Enjoy an ice cream or read an adventure novel. Spending some time creatively is important for your well-being.

What can you do today to ensure a more prosperous future? Spend a small portion of your resources to invest in yourself and enjoy growing with - time, money, or focus - on yourself each month. Make yourself a priority. You’ll enjoy the results.
